ABOUT

Where decades of experience meet a passion for simpler systems

Flomation wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was built on the front lines of global infrastructure. Our founders, Dave McElin and Andy Esser, bring over 50 years of combined technical expertise to the table.

Having navigated the high-stakes environments of banking, government, and broadcast, they’ve seen firsthand how clunky, rigid software can stall even the most brilliant teams. They decided to build a better way.

The founding team

Andy Esser

Software Engineer · 30+ years

Andy is a Software Engineer with 30+ years of experience and a deep focus on DevOps and process optimisation. He thrives under pressure, having spent decades solving critical problems for the education, broadcast, and finance sectors. For Andy, tech is only as good as the time it saves and the frustration it eliminates.

THE PERSONAL SIDE

A father of three, Andy shares his life with his wife and a spirited Italian Greyhound named Dobby. Beyond the screen, he serves his community as a volunteer first responder for the Welsh Ambulance Service, which says a fair amount about how he approaches everything else.

Dave McElin

Network, Systems & Electronics Engineer · 25+ years

With 25+ years as a Network, Systems, and Electronics Engineer, Dave is the architect of reliability. His career has seen him designing high-availability solutions for sectors where downtime isn’t an option: pharmaceutical giants, national banking systems. Dave’s superpower is his ability to look at a complex technical knot and engineer a clear, elegant way through it.

THE PERSONAL SIDE

Based in Shropshire, Dave shares his home with his software-engineer wife, their daughter, and two cats. If he isn’t streamlining a system, he’s likely applying that same problem-solving lens to a new hands-on project.

THE VISION

Democratising complexity

We believe that the power to automate shouldn’t be gated behind a computer science degree or a massive IT budget. Over the next five years, our goal is for Flomation to run the processes a business depends on, whatever its size.

Closing the “technical gap”

By 2030, we want the distance between an idea and a deployed workflow to be near-zero. We are doubling down on our visual, node-based architecture to ensure that anyone with a logical mind can build enterprise-grade automation without writing a single line of code.

The “integrate everything” standard

Our vision is to build the world’s most versatile library of connections. If a tool has an API, it belongs in Flomation. We are expanding the library so that a decade-old ERP and a model released last week can talk to each other without someone writing an adapter in between.

Community-driven innovation

We aren’t building a black box. Our future is rooted in transparency and collaboration. Through our open source work and growing Discord community, we’re handing the steering wheel to our users. Your challenges will dictate our roadmap, ensuring we’re always building tools that solve real-world problems.

Scaling human potential

Ultimately, our vision is about time. In five years, we want Flomation to have reclaimed millions of hours of busywork for our users, allowing teams to move away from manual data entry and back toward the creative, high-impact work they actually love.

Come and tell us what you are wrestling with

The roadmap follows the problems people bring us, so the fastest way to shape Flomation is to say what is not working for you.
